Only a few minutes before Drake made headlines with his dis of Hot 97 at the Madison Square Garden stop of his “Summer Sixteen” tour, opening act Future tore it down with assists from some very special friends. A$AP Ferg and Future’s former antagonist Young Thug joined the Atlanta rapper onstage.
Ferg jumped onstage for “New Level.”
Young Thug’s appearance with Future was a bit of a surprise, given the tumultuous history between the two artists. However, they appeared very friendly, and even embraced onstage after performing the appropriately-titled “Best Friend.”

Police detained Vic Mensa Thursday on suspicion of stealing after him and his crew went on a $4,000 shopping spree at Barneys. Taking to his Snapchat, Mensa blasted the police for accusing him of stealing. “I’m tired of dealing with these motherfuckers man,” he said as he pointed his camera at a police officer. “Over here just giving a nigga trouble for all types of stupid shit. We didn’t steal shit. I go in Barneys and spend four racks and get accused of stealing.”
He claimed that the police didn’t even know what they thought the group had stolen. “That’s the craziest part about it, I went and bought some ill Saint Laurent boots, some more shit from Barneys, and we get all pulled out the fucking car and get accused of stealing. And on top of that, they don’t even know what they think we stole.” He lamented the fact that black men in American society are often viewed as criminal. “You can’t be a young black man out here doing anything legal, positive, and you still get treated like a criminal,” he said. “We don’t have to steal shit man, we could buy nicer shit than you buy for your wife for her right now.”
Vic has been outspoken about police violence and civil rights issues in his music, interviews and clothing, and clearly he’s using his social media as another outlet to voice his opinion about injustices.
When A$AP Rocky and Tyler, the Creator hit up your local Target, no aisle is safe. Last night, A$AP Rocky took to Snapchat to document his Target adventures with Tyler, the Creator. Though Rocky himself stayed out of the ruckus, Tyler was his usual entertaining self as he danced, rode around on shopping carts and more. You can check out the series of Snapchat clips featuring the Target trek above. Previously, the pair pulled similar stunts at Coachella and even performed together recently.
Just days after it was reported Iggy Azalea owed nearly $270,000 in unpaid taxes, it was confirmed she has inked a TV production deal with Universal Cable Productions and Wilshire Studios. And god knows she could use the extra paycheck.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Australian rapper will work with the studios to create “millennial-focused programming.” The content will include scripted and unscripted shows, and will cover a wide range of topics, including social justice, tolerance, as well as women empowerment.
”Creating television that is reflective of my generation has always been an aspiration of mine,” Azalea told the Hollywood Reporter. “I am incredibly excited to start working on my ideas and am humbled that Universal Cable Productions and Wilshire Studios have given me this once-in-a-life time opportunity.”
Before the studios confirmed, Iggy shared the news with her 9 million followers on Instagram, claiming her “Azalea Street” production company had signed a multi-year contract with UniversalNBC.
Also! Wanted to share with everyone that my production company “Azalea Street” has just signed on to create original content for UniversalNBC! Though Iggy is no stranger to working in front of the camera (she’s hosted MTV’s House of Style and recently signed on as a judge for The X Factor Australia), she’s also had some experience working behind the scenes—most notably directing her own music videos.
We all know that Drake and Skepta are tight, but Skepta decided to make his bond with OVO official. After Drake revealed his Skepta tattoo back in October, the Boy Better Know rapper followed it up with his own tattoo of the OVO owl. Clearly, aside from music, the two artists simply have a lot of mutual respect for one another and the movements that each have created with their music.
Drake and Skepta have long been friends. Drake popped up as a surprise guest during Skepta’s tour last October, and there’s even been talk of Drake somehow signing to Skepta’s Boy Better Know label, although so far there haven’t been any developments beyond talk. There were rumors that Drake and Skepta were working on music together earlier this year. While they did collaborate on the track “Ojulegba” with Wizkid, neither ended up appearing on each others albums, both of which dropped within a week of each other earlier this year.
Young Thug has officially announced the release date for his upcoming project Jeffery, and it’s just adding to the musical dopeness that is the month of August. According to a post on Thugger’s Instagram page, Jeffery will be releasing on his birthday, Aug. 16.
Jeffery is Thugger’s third project of the year. He previously released I’m Up back in February, and followed that up with the excellent Slime Season 3 in March. Slime Season 3 spawned some pretty popular Thug songs, including “Digits” and “With Them.” He’s teased a number of songs on the project via Instagram, and has dropped small snippets to promote the forthcoming release.
Hot 97’s Ebro dropped a huge bit of news on Ebro in the Morning on Wednesday that there is a rumor going around that Eminem is cooking up something to go after Drake.
Speaking about a private conversation with Drake, Ebro explained that he brought up the rumor. “I told Drake that I heard the rumor was that Eminem was gonna gear up to come after him. And he laughed and he was like ‘That’s not gonna happen. He’d never do that. And if he did, I got something for him too.'”
Of course, Ebro couldn’t leave Drake’s ongoing and very public beef with Joe Budden unmentioned either. Ebro said he brought it up and Drake was laughing before launching into Budden’s many threats about releasing the direct messages between the pair. “That’s why Joe ain’t put at the DMs,” Drake allegedly told Ebro. “The reason he hasn’t put them out is because I said, ‘I hope you get well in this tough time,'” which Ebro translated as “aka you strung out on dope or something.”
