Drake and Future have been on the road for the last three months for their Summer Sixteen Tour, performing over 50 dates around the U.S. since July. On Wednesday, Drake took to his October’s Very Own blog to tell fans that he would be postponing upcoming dates on the tour to do an ankle injury.
“We are over 50 shows in and I have done everything to power through my recent ankle injury and leave it all out there on the stage every night,” Drake wrote. “I hate to be told I can’t do something, but under doctor’s orders to allow me time to recuperate.”
Drake promised a healthy return with new material to perform for fans: “I can’t wait to see you all again with new music and a stronger ankle.”
You can read the official statement Drake’s camp released to FADER on their website.
After signing on to a two-year film and TV deal with The Weinstein Company last week, it appears Jay Z has wasted no time and will be producing an upcoming biopic about the life of renowned comedian Richard Pryor according to FADER. In the press release Jay Z had this to say: “I’m excited to tell stories from real-life prophets, whom through their struggles have changed the world for the better, and others whose stories are filled with fantasy and delight.” The announcement was made last night during a press conference in New York City where Jay Z and Harvey Weinstein made the announcement. We’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available.
Chance the Rapper has revealed the person he plans to vote for in the upcoming U.S. presidential elections. Speaking to Billboard for a new cover-feature, the popular Chicago rapper announces that he’s voting for Hillary Clinton. “Not to sound selfish, but she’s from Chicago so I would hope that she’d be engaged in our city’s current troubles and needs.,” he tells Billboard. “She has a certain sincerity that’s hidden by the media. I’m not sure if it’s because she’s a woman or because Donald Trump just has a stronghold on the media at this time, but she’s unfairly treated. I can’t really speak on her policies but I feel a certain connection to Hillary Clinton that’s just not there with Donald Trump.” You can check out his full exchange with Billboard here. Regardless of what happens in November, Chance will be performing at The White House for a very special end-of-year event.
French Montana has just revealed some major plans. Speaking exclusively to Complex about his future work, French has announced that his anticipated sophomore studio album MC4 has been cancelled for the time being. Explaining his decision to shelve MC4, the NYC rappers says:
“Songs like “I’m Heated” and “Two Times” couldn’t be cleared. By the time I got the mix how I recorded it, it wasn’t the same. I just ain’t have the same feeling for it … Everybody had to replay shit, and do all this extra shit, so I wasn’t in the mood to put it together. All the music going to come out, you know what I’m saying, just packaged differently. Plus, the album got leaked.”
On a more positive note, French does plan to release a new project in the near future. The “All The Way Up” emcee tells Complex that he is currently “70%” finished with creating another record and will drop a mixtape sometime this month. “I don’t want to announce the name or nothing. I just want to wait until it’s done and just drop it. Make sure it don’t leak, make sure everything is cleared before I announce anything,” he explains. Most notably, French Montana also revealed plans for a joine label with Max B:
“They reduced his 75 years to two years. [When he gets out] I think me and him are going to partner up with our own label. He’s the illest when it comes to names, so I’m waiting for him [to choose a name for the label]. That’s the Silver Surfer.”

In a press conference Thursday, Jay Z and The Weinstein Company announced their new television documentary series about Kalief Browder, a 16-year-old who was imprisoned on Rikers Island for three years without conviction before taking his own life.
According to Fader, one CNN reporter asked Jay what he thinks is the best way to “[stop] police brutality against African-American men,” to which Jay emphasized a need for compassion, trust, and “respect on both sides,” calling out the distrust created by body cameras on police officers.
The terrifying armed robbery of Kim Kardashian at her Paris apartment is not only impacting her social media presence and public appearance obligations, but also (possibly) the future of the Kardashian family’s empire-establishing E! series Keeping Up With the Kardashians. The hit docuseries, now nearly 10 years into its reality TV reign, is reportedly hitting the pause button indefinitely.
21 Savage’s bizarre imitator 22 Savage has become a sensation on the Internet recently, and 21 Savage has finally broken his silence about it. During a concert on Wednesday, Savage rapped “Ain’t no 22, ain’t no 23,” referencing his wannabe.
22’s video for “Jumpin” has already amassed over a million plays on YouTube, and it seems natural that 21 would get angry that someone is blatantly jacking his style. 22, who is really a comedian named Mighty Mike, even admitted to it in a recent interview. “I just felt like jacking him. 22 Savage. I’m really a savage out here. I’m really in the slums. I’m in the trenches,” he said.
