Donald Glover discussed landing the iconic role of Star Wars’ Lando Calrissian on Ellen, calling it a “honor.”
Glover revealed Lando Calrissian was the first toy he had (Glover’s dad gave it to him), adding that—ever the Star Wars fan—he had a Darth Vader one too.
Q-Tip made a surprise announcement on social media Thursday night that A Tribe Called Quest’s final album (the existence of which was confirmed by L.A. Reid this past summer) will be released next month. Noting that the Paris bombing and the group’s performance on The Tonight Show had driven them back into the studio, Q-Tip said that they had created the “blueprint” for a final album, which will be released on Nov. 11.
It looks like Killer Mike is turning Hillary Clinton’s shade into profit. The Run the Jewels rapper was an outspoken Bernie Sanders supporter during the Democratic primary, and still hasn’t warmed up to Clinton since she defeated Sanders.
As it turns out, the Clinton campaign wasn’t the biggest fan of Killer Mike either. Buried amongst thousands of emails to and from Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta recently released by WikiLeaks was one that directly name-checked Killer Mike. “I guess Killer Mike didn’t get the message,” read the message to Podesta by a staffer, referencing the rapper’s semi-controversial comments about Clinton earlier this year. “A uterus doesn’t qualify you to be president of the United States,” the Atlanta rapper said, repeating the words of a female Sanders supporter who went on to say policy was more important than gender. The words sparked the ire of the Clinton campaign at the time, and became a major talking point for the next several days.
Now, Killer Mike has flipped the controversy into something good for him: money. He announced on Instagram Thursday that he would be releasing a t-shirt with the full email printed on it called the “I Don’t Check Messages Tee.”
The situation between Drake and Kid Cudi turnt up on Friday afternoon when Cudi responded to Drake directly on Twitter. “Say it to [my] face pussy. You think it’s a game. I wanna see you say it to my face. I’ll be out soon. Promise.”
The tweet is in response to Drake’s recently released track, “Two Birds, One Stone,” where the Toronto rapper called out Kid Cudi by rapping, “My numbers are out of the world, no wonder they got me feeling so alienated/You were the man on the moon, now you go through your phases/Live for the angry and famous.” The shot seemed like Drake’s response to Cudi who had recently called him out in a tweet.
The rumors are true—Ciara and Russell Wilson are having a baby. Rumors that the couple was expecting started last week, but on Tuesday both of of them took to social media to confirm that a little one will be joining them soon.
Their announcements on social media (using matching pictures—how cute is that?) were released within a minute of each other. Wilson, the quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks, went first, using the hashtag #BabyWilsonOnTheWay.
Ciara, who was celebrating her 31st birthday, was a little more creative. She chose to reveal her secret via baby emoji. “On this special Birthday I received an abundance of love from friends and family.. and I’m excited to Finally share one of the Greatest Gifts of All that God could give… ”

Kevin Gates has been sentenced to 180 days in jail after a jury found him guilty of misdemeanor battery on Wednesday.
The charges stemmed from an August 2015 incident, in which the 30-year-old rapper was filmed kicking a woman in the chest during his concert in Lakeland, Florida. Prior to this week’s verdict, Gates insisted he was innocent and was simply defending himself under Florida’s infamous “Stand Your Ground” law. He claimed the victim, Miranda Dixon, was trying to pull him off stage by repeatedly grabbing his shorts from the crowd. Gates said that Dixon wouldn’t heed his verbal warning, so he used “necessary force” to ensure he wouldn’t be harmed.
Jose Baez, who also represented Casey Anthony, defended Gates during the trial. According to Fox 13 News, the attorney echoed Gates’ claims, stating his client’s alleged kick was in response to Dixon’s battery. Baez also argued that Gates’ foot didn’t actually touch Dixon, and that she was simply attempting to gain damages in an upcoming civil trial.
“Her credibility is to be questioned and you will not be able to beyond and to the exclusion of every reasonable doubt in this case believe her and that is why you should enter a verdict of not guilty in this case,” Baez said.
The jury, made up of six white women, ultimately found Gates guilty. The state reportedly requested 60 days in jail, with one year of probation, and mandatory anger management classes; however, the judge tripled that sentence with credit for any time served, as well as fines and court costs.
Drake might still be taking shots at Kid Cudi while he’s in rehab for depression and suicidal thoughts, but at least Kanye West is sending positive vibes. During the Los Angeles stop of his Saint Pablo Tour on Tuesday night, Kanye performed his song “Waves,” which features additional vocals from Cudi. As that song ended, Kanye then began singing the hook to “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1” and asked the fans in attendance to help him sing Cudi’s part. “Let’s sing this one time for Cudi,” he said. “So Cudi, he in rehab right now, but he got a number one song on the radio, and I want you to sing so he can hear it.”
Kim Kardashian may not be the biggest star in her family for long. RadarOnline.com reported on Tuesday night that current Complex covergirl Kylie Jenner may be angling for her sister’s throne. The outlet claims that Kylie is “pushing to do her own show with Tyga” now that Keeping Up With the Kardashians is on indefinite hold after Kim was robbed at gunpoint in Paris earlier this month.
RadarOnline.com claims “a family insider” told them that Kylie is “sexing up her image” on social media in order to pave the way for a new show that would feature her and on-again-off-again boyfriend Tyga.
Less than a week after Damian Lillard dropped his debut rap album The Letter O, the Portland Trailblazers point guard announced a huge change to the project: It will no longer include Lil Wayne.
Lillard shared the news via Twitter on Tuesday evening, stating that Weezy’s parts on the track “Loyal to the Soil” would be removed at the request of Lil Wayne’s label.
Lillard released the project last Thursday under his rap moniker, Dame D.O.L.L.A. Though his fans are familiar with his musical abilities, this is the first full-length project Lillard has delivered—and he did it in a huge way. The 12-track record included features by everyone from Jamie Foxx and Dupré to Juvenile and Raphael Saadiq. So, yes, it’s disappointing that Lil Wayne was cut, but there are still plenty of big-name cameos throughout.
You can purchase The Letter O today on iTunes—and it’s likely that Wayne’ contribution to it will continue to live on through the internet.
